Fire Safety at Work

In October of 2006, all the rules for fire safety in the workplace have changed. If you were an employer or self-employed within a business or an entrepreneur in business premises or a charity that you must have been brought up to date on the latest improvements to fire safety.

The new rules are as follows:

1. You must be a fire risk assessment that involves all the possible dangers and risks. It must cover everyone in your company by staff, customers, delivery people to warehouse personnel.

2. Get rid of any risks or minimize risks as much as possible. For example, free up your job unnecessary flammable materials such as gas cans, paint cans used.

3. Ensure fire safety in all areas of your job and have all employees know where they are stored. Label all cabinets.

4. Provide protection if flammable or explosive materials are required. Have fire blankets and fire extinguishers readily available and clearly defined and everyone knows how to use them.

5. Create a security plan to address all types of emergencies. The main thing is to get out, low and roll.

6. Keep a main manual with copies to all employees regarding the equipment and plans of action. Verify that all manuals are kept updated.

7. Keep up to date with new employees with regard to fire safety in the workplace and if there is an expansion or a change in the wards, make sure that everyone is judged.

8. Have regular staff meetings to keep everyone on their toes and ask them to bring their fire safety in manual jobs with them.

9. Ask one or two staff members to take a walk through the office or building to make sure everything is in order. Representatives should be your regular or firefighters.

10. Invite a representative of the firefighters to go through the manual and all the equipment, to make sure everything is in order.

You, as the employer, are ultimately responsible for the safety of all those involved in the business. They are just as safe as you choose them. Weekly Challenge staff to develop new proposals for fire safety at work and you should be ready to distribute the prizes. Make copies of the manuals. Challenge the staff to do the same procedures at home and have their children make up a booklet, just like the manual, with diagrams and drawings on how to keep safe at home. Reward families with the best books .......
