Depression as a Cause of Accidents at Work

Depression is a psychological one box very common in our time, able to respond to very different causes and affect the person who suffers in every one of the areas of his life, including employment.

In fact, many jobs attached to them of tension and stress levels that may be highly inconsistent with a possible depression of the employee, may thus be committed to both their own safety and that of other people around you.

Work as a source of depression

Among those mentioned multiple origins of depression may be the very work of the individual.

The overload of functions assumed, the high pressure, lack of motivation, frustration at the difficulty or impossibility of promotion, the job insecurity, bad times or competitiveness with other classmates could all be factors that led to the it.

Spend many hours in an environment that fosters precisely this dissatisfaction, frustration and depressive thoughts can therefore be decisive in depressive symptoms, something in most cases ignored by the person who has it.

The true severity of this disease

Beyond the clichés and stereotypes, depression can be a devastating disease for the life of the person. In the most extreme cases could lead to a complete abandonment of his life, being unable to work, eat, go out or even get dressed.

It is estimated up to 10% of the population suffers from some type of depressive disorder in nature, these being cited as a major cause of sick leave with cardiovascular disease, with the losses that this implies for the Companies.

By having a psychological nature, their detection is more complicated, so the person who has it may not be alerted at first about it, complicating their treatment as it progresses.

And in that period of lack of warning about the disease, lapses in concentration that could suffer the worker could be fatal. Sectors such as transportation, smelting, construction or heavy industry often have jobs that require great skill, and any lack of attention can seriously jeopardize their safety.
