Get your life
What does the schedule look like? This is a pocket notebook, a monthly calendar, a journal, or a planner? It 'hard copy or electronic? The style you choose will depend on your "personal style organization" and your lifestyle. However, no matter what kind of schedule that you choose is a very powerful tool. The calendar is a tool used to create your life. This is the place to make decisions about what is to be part of your life and what not. When someone invites you to an event, what's the first thing that happens?
You decide if you want to participate. This usually happens in a split second. Just go with your gut, or are influenced by the person who invited you. That would be like if you were able to take the time to make this decision? What if you could think, decide if this is what you really want to pass the time, and then answer the call? The calendar gives you this opportunity. It gives you the opportunity to put the important things in your life first so that you can mold and shape your life.
Being able to say: "Let me check my calendar" gives you time to make a decision. If you look at the calendar you are looking for your life. So look at your. What do you see? It 'full of work? He has to have the things you love doing? When was the last time you went to the theater? Kayak? Curled up with a good book? Do you have time for your family? These are the things that are most important to you on the calendar? If not, then you probably are not happening. So what are you doing with your time? You will need to spend some 'time to think about your priorities. When those who are clear to you, put them on your calendar.
Remember to schedule time for yourself. You're no good to anyone, unless you take the time to cool off. So take time to meditate, pray or play, whatever your spirit is renewed. Take the time to the people you love, and time to follow your dreams. Life is busy and if you do not create time for the important things that will not happen. Life happens whether we intend it or not. If not then someone else take control of planning our life for us.
The next time someone invites you somewhere, or asks you to do something, take a deep breath and then say: "I'll check my calendar and let you know. Tomorrow afternoon would be a good time to get back to you?" So do what you said you would. Check your calendar, and check your priorities. And 'this something you really want to do? He in tune with your priorities at this time? If your number one priority is your family and you were to dine together, but someone has invited you to attend a conference, or to play basketball, what event you want first? These are the moments that shape our lives.
This is your opportunity to make a choice that will have a small impact on your life. So, take your time. Just because someone asks you a question, or you get an invitation, does not mean you have to give an immediate response. As Frederick Frieseke said: "The key to your universe is that you can choose." It's your life, choose wisely .......
