Google Adwords and Other Pay Per Click Advertising Services

You often see "pay per click" called PPC. When you search on Google or another search engine, you will see "sponsored links". These are PPC ads. In a nutshell, the advertiser chooses a set of keywords, and when someone searches those keywords, PPC ads rise. The poster orders a small amount on ads, and every time someone clicks on your ad, you must pay the bid amount. These deals are often lower than a few cents per click, and sites like Google has a whole system so that if the offer is more, your ad may appear to get higher.

PPC is cheap, and can only hit your target market. They are also good for monitoring. You can see how many people clicked on your ads under which keywords. If you have a working site and put ads in several key words (like "treadmill" and "elliptical" for example), you can monitor the keywords to be successful and which not. If no one clicks on your ad in the "treadmill", you can stop using it.

With PPC advertising you can almost instantly put ads on major search engines such as Yahoo or Google. You can also give them a monthly budget, you plug your payments. In this way, if clicks go over a certain amount, pulling them out and not end up having to pay more than they expected.

Banner Advertising

The banners are large rectangles that can be seen virtually everywhere advertising or something else. You click on the banner and redirects the browser to your website.

There are a couple of ways to get your banner on the web. The green light is to exchange banners with other sites. This means that I will put your banner, and you put them on your site. You can contact other sites individually, or join a banner exchange. The obvious disadvantage of this is that your site can end up cluttered with flags, and might not want this.

If you're willing to shell out some money, you have a few more options. You can approach individual sites and make an offe or you can join a network banner.

If you work in a narrow niche, you can contact related sites yourself. If you go this route, you have more control over where your banner. Moreover, if there is a certain site you want to advertise on, this method works well. For example, if your website is about bluegrass music Japanese underground (not a niche I suggest you ...), please put it on sites where people who might be interested in the Japanese underground music bluegrass look out of place. The disadvantage is that it is time.

Banner ad networks are like brokers. They pay them and post your banner on other sites and manage this problem by targeting you. They can also track clicks for you, so you know which banners are getting the highest number of hits.

Ads - Online and Offline

Ads are another good way to advertise your site. You can advertise online or offline. Classifieds are a proven technique for advertising. People do not see ads for entertainment, they are looking for something specific.
