Treasures Of The Vine

Women are really strange creatures. His ideas can transform even the most ancient customs. For example, if a man sees vineyards, think of wine - served in a cup. But looks much Bibiana houses that came in the vineyards.

In fact, this Catalan artist usually wear earrings or necklaces made from wine plant - handmade filigree jewelry, created from the tendrils of vines wilted. The idea was born four years ago in the mind of this Catalan, 31, during a trip to Argentina with her then boyfriend, now husband, Jaume Mesquida - director and descendant of the founder of the winery of the same name in the Majorcan village of Porreres .

"In a remote area, I met a farmer who produced works of art and jewelry made of wood and other natural products. Do not handle the forms of natural growth of the material, everything remained as nature had created him." Casas was so fascinated by this technology that decided to leave his job at an advertising agency in Barcelona and set up a studio in the attic of an old house in Porreres. The plan: to create jewelry inspired by Mother Earth. "In Argentina I had seen take the individuality of the tendrils of vines wilted for my job," recalls Casas. From his first huge long walks in the vineyards of her husband, has created an incredible collection of more than 70 pieces of jewelry unusual and exceptional.

Since 2009 Homes sold bracelets, earrings, brooches and necklaces under the name "Sartcells" - a word created from the Catalan art (art) and earrings (circells). Each piece is individually designed silver and semi-precious stones, glass beads or metal wires. They come in boxes designed and framed with care. "My jewelry can also be hung on the wall," says Casas with a charming smile, which in itself is a work of art.

Surprising that want to sell their works, because the love they have: All the exhibits in glass cases at the entrance to the winery Jaume Mesquida their own name. For example some of the wristbands of his collection called Great Love are pending Somriure is named Dolce (sweet smile). For the artist, each piece is a reflection of the sensitivity of women. He likes to talk about their works as "A trip to the beauty of women." "The essence of the woman is made up of five elements, Water, Earth, Metal, Fire and Wood. And these items can also be found in my jewelry." And what about the men? He smiles. "Within every man there is also a woman. I think for that reason men also appreciate my jewelry," says Casas. He is moved by the fact that many women select a piece related to his own character. He says for example that women of strong character are often attracted to fire and metal. "And choose pieces that have been refined by red coral example, an element of fire."

Bibiana unique jewelry is not expensive houses. "No need to get millions in my work. The pieces have a certain price, because I use special materials and have invested much effort and creativity," explains the artist. Do not have planned another collection: "I want to produce big - I am guided only by my instincts." It is comparable to what you love the sea, swim with your eyes closed and being carried away by the waves.

Her husband fully supports. "His confidence helps me see things with different eyes." And he feels the same proximity to nature that it - just know that the wine of the winery Jaume Mesquida has existed for several years producing biodynamic way. Bibiana Homes is proud of that. "In Europe most people have distanced themselves from nature. In many aspects of life with nature replaced with plastic and lose contact with the environment."

What attracts you not live in a big city like Barcelona? Do not miss it? "I love living in Porreres, life goes on more quietly, and that helps my work. If it gets too quiet, I sometimes I travel to the Peninsula, to be there a few days to immerse myself a little on the new trends fashion, art and culture. "

His creativity is inherited. Bibiana's grandfather was a painter and his grandmother was a dressmaker. She considers herself more of a girl playing a great artist. "Children see things very impartial. And that's what I'm trying to get" he says. Who would have thought, for example, to use vines to create art and jewelry? Surely this is the first person in the world to do so. As I said: women are really strange creatures.
