For ye know neither the day nor the hour

We live in an uncertain and unpredictable global environment that shapes our daily inner sense. This new psychological equilibrium is characterized by a widespread sense of uncertainty and awareness of the vulnerability.

What makes our current circumstances are different is that in the past 30 years, many of the destructive forces that for centuries ruined our sense of security has been greatly minimized by the progress of science and socio-political developments Humanity. As a result of these developments (not just scientists), today most people reasonably expect to be able to program your future and live a safe, satisfying and complete.

Dr. Trujillo, after the 11-S, described by S. Century as the "era of vulnerability." In particular, if the fact of terrorism unequal successive join devastating natural disasters, we obtain the vulnerability that is felt and perceived by well-established societies before in terms of future projections and community safety.

The sense of the future is deeply rooted in human beings. Every moment think what we do at these times of our lives. When we are young we project ourselves to be adults, and when we arrived, we project on how to ensure and protect the life of our children or grandchildren.

An object that underlined this concern is the organizational calendar or calendars and agendas we use to manage the evolution and to project our aspirations and ambitions in times to come, with the "certainty" that the materialization of these illusions depend only on the passage of time and our strength. We almost never random incidents. Our plans, hopes and expectations feed on hope, which is the bread of the soul.

People harbor two kinds of hope: a generally more diffuse and in relation to our beliefs and faith, and a more specific and short-term, embodied in our willpower every day to get some goals.

Hopeful individuals, when faced with a disaster or misfortune, have greater chances of survival and success by his own personality tissue, anticipating that they will find a valid solution, so persevere with more tenacity. While most negative individuals lose their sense of future and can be dragged by circumstances.

At present, our general sense of security is precarious. Every day the media bombards us with news of calamities to which we feel powerless. Especially disturbing is the suspicion that certain leaders, aided by some media may be encouraging the collective fear, in order to foster the spirit of uniformity conformist or get blind support "exceptional protective measures." Since these measures, many times, opportunities restrictive civil liberties. This kind of suspicion about the possible management of the population by some political leaders triggers instability and anger.

All these social, and counterproductive thoughts that accompany them, make us feel physically and emotionally fragile, apprehensive, as if our life plan could remove themselves from day to day. The drawback of this continuous monitoring prevents us relax, interferes with our ability to relate, to function occupationally and enjoy our leisure. It also affects our immune system and predisposes us to feel emotional or physical ailments,

The sense that we control our daily lives is reasonably also an essential component of our emotional balance, it breeds confidence in ourselves and our abilities.

The dissemination by the media of natural disasters or the consequences of terrorism or war live, makes the impact and the overall response is more disabling than any live experience. The human being vicarious transmission starts with the victim, may feel and think the same way even if it is hundreds of miles of the conflict.

Awareness of the vulnerability is fueled by fear of the unexpected and unknown. This is a vague fear, latent and uncomfortable, which robs us of peace, we are sinking spirits, and make us apprehensive character, suspicious, irritable, fearful, shy and distant. This fear not only affects us individually, but extends to the community level.

If this debilitating fear lingers, ending kidnapped in a cloud that blocks us. Once we are prisoners of the anguish and helplessness, we also undermined the ability to think clearly and make decisions

We all are constantly adapting to changes in our bodies and our environment. For example, children who have suffered physical or emotional consequences, in less than 5 years can recover the same level of satisfaction before the incident. There is evidence that we get used to events better hope that the unexpected.

For any misfortune, the degree of adaptation is always personal, and also depends on the intensity of the disaster and the meaning given to it. Thus, the individual's degree of adaptation that we have to face a disaster will depend on three factors:

1 .- The survival instinct - Just born

2.-acquired aspects that shape the way we are - as we get.

3.-strategies we have learned - As we learn
